An update is required to use mobile data

I am currently running the latest iOS (17.6.1) on an iPhone SE gen 2 and am receiving a message that an update is required to use mobile data.


I saw there was an issue for iPhone 7 that has closed - is there something similar here?

Tap Settings > General > About to see if a carrier update might be there. If not, you will need to contact your carrier.


The iPhone 7 issue that you are referring to was unique to the iPhone 7 and not all iPhone 7's were affected.

A carrier update has to come from the carrier, so rather that swapping SIM cards, contact your carrier and ask them to troubleshoot the problem from their end.


If the carrier says that they have gone as far as they can, then that would be the time to make an appointment at the Apple Store or take the phone to an authorized Apple service shop.
