Using the Touch Bar to bypass ads?

A month or two ago I made the discovery that I could skip through youtube ads (and tubitv.com ads) by swiping with the Touch Bar to the end. I thought "Wow, this is great!" You could not use the arrow keys, nor drag with the track pad and cursor to do it, only the Touch Bar.

Then a few weeks ago, it stopped working. It seems to drag the ("cursor"? "scrub bar"?) to the end, and then immediately jump back to where it was supposed to be, and continue from there. As Basil Fawlty said, "That particular pleasure has been cut off." Maybe Youtube did an update that resulted in this exploit, then they fixed it.

I realize that this is very likely not considered a macOS or MacBook Pro issue, But did anybody else with a Touch Bar notice the short-lived shortcut?
