"Hey Siri" won't work with Airpods 3

I've searched numerous articles online and double checked all the settings to no avail. The Apple website itself says the Airpods 3 work with the voice "Hey Siri" command, but this seems to be wrong. The only way I have been able to engage Siri is by pressing and holding the Airpod stem. I've tried updating the phone, restarting the phone, and turning "Hey Siri" off then on, recalibrating Siri... Can someone help me figure out how to get "Hey Siri" to work when I have my new Airpods 3 in?

Hi,

Since you tried all these methods, can you confirm that you tested out your AirPods microphone ? Try recording a voice memo with them, and hear how it sounds. If the microphone doesn't work, I would recommend you to contact Apple Support to schedule a repair at a near Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Also, please check that you are on the latest firmware version for the AirPods 3rd generation. (6A326) To check, simply open Settings > Bluetooth > [YOUR AIRPODS] > Firmware version.

Sorry, it seems that it simply called Version.

From what I see, you are on the latest firmware version.

I have a twisted idea that you could try: change your Siri language from English (Canada) to English (America).

Upon experimenting some more, I've discovered that "Hey Siri" works until I put the phone on silent mode. Then "Hey Siri" breaks and won't work even if I put it back off silent mode. Again, these issues only occur with the Airpods. Otherwise "hey Siri" works just fine on my phone.

I did try changing to US English and the problem persisted. Good thinking outside the box though!

Hello, I've been using these Airpods prarily for phone calls, so the microphones do work.

Also, I can't find the firmware via the instructions you posted. Perhaps the UI was updated to not show this information? Thank you for the reply.
