Updated iPhone 7plus to it’s max

Can I update my iPhone 7 Plus to 6.0 or higher or is Apple capping the service there so I will have to buy a new phone

2. No. You'd need to get an iPhone 8 or newer(an iPhone XS, XR, or newer for 17 or 18) to install 16 or above, but not one of the current models.

Your iPhone cannot update past iOS 15 due to hardware limitations, and is no longer supported in iOS software updates. Meaning it’s about time to buy a new iPhone.


According to Apple: Older devices may not be eligible for upgrades if they don’t have the necessary hardware capabilities to support the new software.
