What payment method does Apple refund for trade-ins?

I have a $500 Apple gift card that I intend to buy an iPhone in full with soon. I will cover the rest with a credit card. I see that Apple charges the full iPhone price and then refunds the trade-in value after receiving it. Which payment method will apple refund to? I'd rather get a refund to my credit card, and not another $500 gift card. Any insight?

The trade in value will go to your original payment method, so your credit card. You will only get an Apple Gift Card if you are not applying it to a new purchase immediately, and want to hold on to that credit for a future purchase.

Yeah I saw all that on the website, but I'm using two payment methods, a gift card and a credit card. Which one will get refunded?

Apple can't "refund" to a gift card, to the best of my knowledge. They'd have to issue you a new one. I suspect that it will go to your credit card. However, there's nothing you can do to change their procedure, so there's not much you can do other than wait and see.
