Transfer of music to an external hard drive

I have purchased an external hard drive 4TB and want to move iTunes music to this hard drive, I have seen a lot of people telling you how to do it and that it takes a long time, I have nearly 1TB of music. Can anyone help me as I need the space to add more music. Any help would be appreciated.

I've done this for +19 years! With 3TB Library now.

It's really simple, you just copy the iTunes/Music folder unto the new HD.

Then when launching iTunes/Music, hold down the option key and a pop window will ask you where's the (new) Library. You only need to do this once.

TIP:

1) Keep the old Music Library for a couple weeks/month until you're happy with new setup, then delete it.

2) Make sure when you do a Backup of your mac, it will also include the new 4TB HD, just so you don't loose everything one day ;)
