How do I sync my iphone to my PC rather than sync itunes to the iphone?

I have a new PC and installed itunes. I have had the iPhone a while and have created new playlists and deleted older ones. When I connected my iphone to sync weirdly I see the old playlists but none of the new ones. As it is a new PC the first time I ran iTunes it asks to create a new library so I do not understand why. When prompted to download purchases I only see a few songs and not the Apple Music songs I have downloaded. When I try to sync I get a warning that it will delete the media on my iphone and replace it with the items on my PC. How do I sync my iphone to my PC rather than sync itunes to the iphone? I do not want to lose everything on my iphone.
