Malwarebytes not able to scan a external data drive

Unfortunately I allowed myself to be taken by a phishing scam on my Dell PC. I am rebuilding my digital life on my Mac book pro m1. I have an external hard drive that was attached to my PC during the crisis. At some point I want to retrieve word, excel, and photo files (jpegs, PSD, native camera) from the external hard drive. Malwarebytes does not scan an external drive for threats. Is there some way I can get this drive scanned, by me or a commercial source? Thank you for the help.
