iTunes won't sync with iPod Nano 5 G, also keeps freezing

I tried to sync my iPod Nano 5th generation to my iTunes, but it just will not sync. When I hit the Sync button, a message pops up on the top of the screen saying "Syncing" for a quarter of a second, and my songs do not sync. In trying to fix this issue, my iTunes also keeps freezing. I have checked for updates; I tried restarting the app; restarting my PC; restarting my device; I de-authorized and re-authorized my Windows 10 PC; I tried running it in safe mode and running it in admin- when I do either of those things, all that happens is a small window pops up giving me the choice to disable or restrict certain features. I went to Programs and Features and tried repairing iPod Support- iTunes is not listed under Programs and Features.

Not sure what else I can do. I would appreciate any help, thanks.
