Ever since updating to OSX 14.6.1 last week, my MacBook Air's fan comes on very soon after boot, no matter how many or few apps are running, and won't turn off short of shutting the laptop down.
Any help is appreciated.

Is your MacBook Air an Intel or Silicon Mac?
If it is the former, I suggest that you try resetting the Mac's SMC: Reset the SMC on your Mac - Apple Support
If it is the latter, it won't have a SMC, so we would have to do a bit more troubleshooting.

Should the fan speed run amok in the future one thing you can do is to open the Activity Monitor and see what process(es) is(are) using the most CPU% under the CPU tab. This would provide you with a clue of what the potential cause is.
