How to Transfer an App to my new Iphone

I have an Iphone Xmax. After dropping it a few times it started restarting every 5 minutes and the screen is smashed and has become unusable. I bought a new iphone XR cash. I was unable to restore the new XR Iphone by icloud because it is telling me there are no icloud backups available even though i have been having this phone over 4 years. There should be a back up out there but it says no back up available. Since the screen is smashed and the phone restarts every 5 minutes i cannot do a new icloud back up or transfer to new XR phone by holding it next to it. Is there a way to move 1 app from my old phone(XS Max) to my new one(XR)? Not sure if there are other ways of transferring apps. Thanks!

If you signed into the new phone with the same Apple ID as you used on the old phone, simply open the app store and find the app, which should show with a cloud icon next to it, which when tapped, will download the app to the new phone. If you chose a new Apple ID for the new phone, you'll have to purchase the app again, as apps are tied to the Apple ID they were purchased under.

The only way there will be an iCloud backup is if you turned on iCloud backups (or alternatively, iCloud sync) while the phone was working. And you must log in to the same iCloud account. You may have also backed up to your computer, but like iCloud backups you would have had to do that yourself also.
