Is it just me or is Safari getting more unusable on the real web?

Increasingly, I run into things not working with Safari which work with other browsers. For instance, today I wanted to register at teamgantt.com but the final button of the signup process does nothing. This is not just that site, it happens more and more.

I did things like clearing history and such, but nothing worked. Suggestions that include a regular reboot are not "it just works" (SJ) so are not really a solution if they have to be performed time and again.

I don't like to, but I am thinking about ditching Safari altogether and moving to Chrome. Safari is becoming too unreliable. Which is a drag, because the nice thing about Safari is the iCloud password synchronisation across all devices.

But if it doesn't work, maybe I need to ditch Safari/Keychain and move to Chrome/Bitwarden.

Are there things I can do to make Safari usable again without all these (clear cache, reboot, safe-boot and other — from a UX standpoint — horrible suggestions)?

Hi Gerben Wierda,

Re: "Is it just me or is Safari getting more unusable on the real web?"

Commiserations!

Seems to me there are many web-designers out there who design their websites, tailored only for other browsers.

(Many web-sites have a help / support / search or contact page which may publish which browsers are preferred.)

It takes careful programming to ensure that a website is accessible on all the main browsers, and it seems not all web-designers have the knowledge and experience, (or can take the time?) to take the extra steps to get it right.

Personally, I find "Firefox" browser can be used to access sites that just can't / don't / won't perform properly when using Safari, so having that choice of browsers has overcome the difficulty. It seems many browsers use more of Mac's resources than Safari does, and it is mostly "commercial" sites where difficulties are encountered.

All the best :-)
