Microphone on FB Messenger

My microphone is not picking up my voice while trying to record voice memos on facebook messenger. It works everywhere else. I was having issues with it on iMessage, but then I restarted my iPad to factory settings and it works just fine except for the messenger app. All I can hear is noise and if I speak louder, I can hear my voice “in the distance” behind the noise.

I tried to resolve this issue in iStore but they didn’t know what to do either.
