How can I avoid unnecessary charges when downloading apps from the App Store?

I can’t even download important stuff and I’m a high school student I need to download apps and it’s always charging me like 50 dollars or 9 every time and I’m not going to waste my money. It’s like u guys want to steal money from us and take advantage. And I won’t take that and if do I will make a report bc this isn’t fair to us apple users.

If you're downloading paid apps, yes, you're going to be charged.

If you download an app that offers a free trial subscription, you will be charged for the paid subscription if you don't cancel the subscription 24 hours before the trial ends.

If you have used a free trial subscription for an app in the past and later try to get a 2nd free trial subscription, you will immediately be charged for the paid subscription as soon as you download the app.

There is no charge for free apps.
