How can I stop my browser from downloading WebP format?

I used to be able to download images and they would land on my desktop in whatever format they were published in. jpg, png, etc. Now they are always webp. I want that to stop. Is there a way? I already read the threads about similar topics and not one single thread seemed to have anyone that understood the question. It sounds like others are not happy with it either.

1) I don't want to batch change them after downloading them

2) I just want to download as JPG, PNG, or whatever.

No matter what I download, it's webp, and I know for certain not every single website is all of a sudden only using webp.

There has to be a way to get images downloaded in Safari, Chrome, etc, to DOWNLOAD as JPG or PNG.
