Albums with same name but different artists grouped together

I have an extensive collection on iTunes,but on holiday recently noticed that my iPod had merged two albums with the same title but different artists. I know of the Greatest Hits problem and I have more than one instance of two albums bearing the same name and theyre ok. They are separate on iTunes in my laptop so only merge when syncing to the iPod. Why is this one different. I've even deleted one of them but when I add it back it merges again.

Without looking more closely at your iTunes Library, it's difficult to say for certain but it may be the specific view that you're using.


Jim's suggestion is the easiest one. I add the artist name to Greatest Hits albums as I import them . For other albums, if I don't catch it when I import the album, I simply edit it afterwards. iTunes makes that easy to do and by using Sync, those edits are copied over to the ipod easily.
