"DSC-RX100M6: this accessory requires too much power"

I would like to connect my SONY RX100 camera to my iPhone 14plus so that I can transfer photos to the phone. I am using a new Lightning to UBS3 cable (bought from Apple) and a male USB to male micro USB cord to connect the Apple cable to my camera. I get the message "this accessory requires too much power". Also the message "Cannot use accessory USB Bus-powered Device: This accessory requires too much power". Is there a cable that I can purchase to make this work?

I am able to remove the SD card from the camera and insert it into an Apple Camera Adapter with an SD card slot and transfer photos from the card to the iPhone. However I would like to do the transfer without removing the SD card. Can any one help? Thank you.

iPhone 14 Plus, iOS 17

The error you're encountering typically happens because the camera requires more power than the iPhone can supply through the Lightning port. While you've already tried using the Lightning to USB3 cable setup, the iPhone isn't providing enough power for the Sony RX100.

You have, at least, two options:

  1. Try using a powered USB hub between the iPhone and the camera. This method ensures that the camera receives enough power to communicate with the iPhone, and it should allow you to transfer photos without needing to remove the SD card.
  2. Alternatively, you might want to consider using the Sony PlayMemories Mobile app (or the newer Imaging Edge Mobile) to transfer photos wirelessly over Wi-Fi, which could offer a more seamless experience.

Wow! Thank you! It works like a charm! I used my ANKER PowerPort Atom III and found the correct cables. It works fine.

When I had an iPhone 8 I was able to use the SONYImaging Edge Mobile, but now that I have my new phone and it is upgraded to the iOS 17.6 software it no longer works. One must scan a QR code on the camera and when I do that I get a message on my phone that "no usable data found". Using the cables and the power hub is much more reliable and direct. Thank you.
