Can't Share Desktop, Downloads or Documents in Monterey

In discussions mac osx earlier operating systems, I encountered this same question I am re-posting, but I haven't solved it yet. I recently acquired a macbook pro 2015, installed a bigger nvme ssd and a fresh Monterey. Everything seems to be running fine, but when viewing my files from my trusty iMac 2019 running Sonoma, I don't have permission to view or write to Desktop, Downloads or Documents. I tried every trick in the book, changing permissions in user folders to rwx, adding folders to shared and resetting to defaults. No results. Any suggestions are welcome!

Hello BDAqua, just to keep you updated after all the advice from you. I ran some script in Safe mode to check my SSD and there were some 'deeper problems' within the system. Since I only installed it a few weeks ago, I decided to erase the SSD and start from scratch. Everything is fine now. I think things went wrong in the first place when I set up my system using my Time Machine backup. But I learned a lot from the experience.

Hello BDAqua, thanks for guiding me through the permissions. I enabled the root user, and give rolff read and write permissions, applying to enclosed items. When logging back in as rolff and connecting from the IMac as user rolff (that being the way I'm used to sharing), I still cannot see or edit the content of the laptop's desktop, documents and downloads. I'm giving up, there's other ways of sharing files (like via the Public > Drop Box). So for now, thanks.
