Trying to download free apps

Every time I try to download a free app it always says payment not complete and then it takes me to update my payment information and I update it and then It tries to charge my card $12 and something cents so it says that my card information failed and I can’t download any apps. I shouldn’t have to pay anything for a free app. Help!

also i don’t have any money on my card right now so it’s declining the payment .

You do not pay for any free apps. What you have encountered is a previous purchase or subscription that has not been paid and you will not be able to use the App Store while you still owe money.

Most apps on the app store say free but are not. They are free to download, not free to use.

Take for instance, in the App Store in Discover, The Top Free Apps, a lot of them have that little note below them, In-App Purchase, so why would they be in the Top Free Apps if they have that in them. I don't regard them as free.

When looking at the app read the reviews and make sure you look for In-App Purchases on the review page.

It'll take Canva as example that is in the Top Free Apps. No where do you see the In App Purchase option when viewing it but the app list below it does (see graphic below)

but if you go the Canva site that has reviews of the app and scroll to the bottom of the page you see In-App Purchases. Not listed earlier but there it is in for all to see.

So as the old adage goes there is no such thing as free.

I used to use it but not anymore.
