I've not used the computer for years but I want to give it to a relative. I've lost the apple wireless keyboard and have a mouse that is not working well. The device starts up and asks for the password. I don't have any other apple devices. How can I reset the logon password? I am in the UK.

Windows Win key = Mac CMD key or ⌘

It's not in a condition for gifting to a relative even if it's a relative you dislike strongly. Best to contact Apple Support https://getsupport.apple.com/ or better yet, have it recycled National Services - Apple (UK). Good luck!

You should clear and wipe the Mac mini, then have the new user set it up using their own Apple ID.

To add to what hcsitas say's, giving an old Mac to a relative or friend is a curse.
If the Mac is too old to updated or they are not Apple savvy, then giving it to them is a bad idea.
Cruel but true. But needs must ... Apple 'help pages' are nothing but opaque. Fortunately, I unearthed the original password and bought it a new keyboard so I lives in hope.
