VPN asks for Password every time I connect

My VPN used to connect without the need for typing in a password. Recently, it started to ask for a password each time I log in. I have read older comments on this, but nothing worked as they were referring to older systems.

How do I get it to connect directly?

I managed to solve the problem. I found that in the VPN description in the system settings, the password box was empty. I filled it in and it works now.
I have no idea, why it was empty.

Thank you for posting the solution that worked for you.

Does it use the built-in VPN software or a third-party solution?

Did any changes precede the need to always enter password, like a new configuration file? Maybe it doesn’t allow storing it.

Try removing the password entry from Keychain Access (or Passwords system settings). Maybe it has a corrupted entry and fails to retrieve the correct password. Mail has suffered from that for many years. Deleting the password entry would fix the problem.

Thanks for the answer. It is a workplace account. I now deleted the config file and downloaded it anew. Now I am stuck. I open the config file with the profile installer app and this app tells me that I have to review the config file in the system settings. In the settings, I did not find an opportunity to do that. So now I am without a VPN connection. How can I get it back running?

Cheers,
