Lock desktop icons in Mac OS

This has been asked a few times and it looks like no one has found a solution.

Is there a way to lock some (or all) of the desktop icons in place?

Every time my Macs sleeps or turn off the displays, some of the icons move to random places (specifically the ones on the right column (I use it for locations such as HDs and network shares, which is the default Mac OS place for putting those).

I have tried using no sort order, snap to grid and not snapping into grid, changing icon sizes and spacing. The problem persists.

Thanks for any suggestions!
