Does iOS device run an apk file?

Hello. Recently I got a file from my contact through Telegram app. I didn’t see the file extension, and opened it. It was an apk formatted file that contained malware. It’s been 5 days nothing happened to my device. Just wanted to clarify from professionals. Does anyone know will IOS device run an apk file? Or am I safe?
