My iPad screen suddenly dims

Suddenly, out of nowhere, my iPad dimmed in about 30-40 seconds to then go into standby.

I bet more people are having this and a previous thread about this did have some solution, but not the eventual solution:

-A Go to Settings>Accessibility>Display & Text Size>Auto-Brightness and turn that off.

-It probably will still continue, so Go to Settings>Battery>Low Power Mode and turn that off.

For me, this worked.

Very annoying how and iPad can suddenly start doing this: it changed the settings there by itself, while using it and connecting it to a charger (same charger I always use, in my house, etc.)

Presumably you have an iPad Pro with FaceID. Try disabling the Attention Aware feature...

Settings > FaceID & Passcode > Attention-Aware Features - set to OFF

When set to ON - the iPad will automatically dim the display when you are not actively looking directly at the screen - the timeout period being determined by the Auto-Lock setting (Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto Lock).
