Inquiry Regarding RAM Upgrade for MacBook Air

Dear Apple Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am writing to inquire about the possibility of upgrading the RAM in my MacBook Air. Currently, my device is equipped with 8GB of RAM, and I am interested in upgrading to 16GB. Could you please provide information on whether this upgrade is feasible for my specific model and, if so, the process and associated costs?

Additionally, I would like to highlight the benefits that such an upgrade would provide. Increasing RAM from 8GB to 16GB can significantly enhance performance, particularly for users who engage in memory-intensive tasks such as video editing, graphic design, and running multiple applications simultaneously. This upgrade would not only improve the speed and efficiency of these processes but also contribute to a more seamless and productive computing experience.

Thank you for your assistance with this matter. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Asha Kanta Sharma

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.6

Sorry. You can't upgrade it. Like all MacBook Airs, yours has soldered-in RAM, and no slots for adding more. If it has 8 GB of RAM now, that's the amount it is going to have forever.

I would suggest making sure that your next Mac has 16 GB of RAM or more. It's too late to get 16 GB for this one.

Hey there,

It looks like you might have better luck reaching out to a Mac Specialist directly. The community is awesome for general advice, but Apple won’t respond here.

You can chat with a Mac Specialist on the Apple website. Just head to the Mac order page and look for the “Chat with a Specialist” option, or you can hit up their support here: Apple Support

Just a heads up, most MacBook Air models have soldered RAM, so upgrading it after the fact isn’t usually an option. A specialist will be able to confirm that for your specific model.

Sorry to report but these Forums are Hosted by Apple but Apple itself is not here and will probably never read your request

The Apple Support Communities are only User to User Forums

That said, perhaps we can assist ?

Most recent and current MacBookAir computers can not have added RAM because the RAM and SSD Drive is soldered to the LogicBoard

You can make a Custom Purchase and choose to have the RAM increased or the SSD Drive increase Only at the Time of Purchase

Thereafter, not changes can be made

Depending on when you purchased the computer from Apple

They have a 14 Day Return Policy and No questions asked

Returns & Refunds
