I have a Series 6 watch. I have worn it for years with no issue. A few months ago I broke out with a rash and when I was cleaning it up noticed it was blistered. I quit wearing it for a week and it almost healed. As soon as I put it back on I broke out. I’m very disappointed that I may never be wearing an Apple Watch. It seems from what I’m reading this is a problem caused by Apple software.

You may have contact dermatitis caused by an allergic reaction or sensitivity to Nickel in the metal cases or bands. Nickel is used in the hardening process of stainless steel, aluminum and sapphire crystal.

Watch software cannot change the type or intensity of the LED light from the sensors.
Contact a dermatologist.
My advice, wash your wrist with warm water and a face cloth only, morning and night, use the same face cloth to wipe the strap and casing and moisturise your skin nightly. Do not wear in for sleep.
