Since Saturday I have been getting the above error message: Trojan_B08DF8310 from up-dates-mac.com
Have run scans with Nortons, it says it is ok, but then it keeps re-appearing. How can I get rid of it???

That notification is a scam. It's been reported for at least a couple of years now, and similar such attempts are common. No website can ever scan your Mac for viruses, so any such "alert" that pops up while you're web surfing is a fake. If if was a one-time pop-up, just ignore it. If it's coming back in your Notifications, open Safari -> Settings - > Websites -> Notifications and clear out the list.

Stop unwanted Notifications - Apple Community describes what they are and how to prevent them from occurring.
Uninstall "Norton". Rule 1 of Macs is don't install junk.
Norton is likely the issue! Mac OS does not require or in any way benefit from any of the following types of third party apps:
Mac OS only needs to be kept up to date and restart the Mac about 1x per week. Other than that please leave it alone unless you want a slow, unstable, buggy computer!!!
