In Word, when you do File > Save As, in the resulting dialog box, under File Format you must select Export Formats > PDF.

(There is no "File > Save As PDF.")

In my experience it is just easier to do File > Print > PDF > Save as PDF

Open the file in Word then select file > save as > pdf

Or do File > Print >PDF > Save as PDF

If Word app is not installed on your Mac, then you can use the free online converter to do it for you.

To go from any pdf to Word I followed Apple's directions Command A, Command C, open Word and paste. Why isn't there a counterpart to go from Word to pdf.

I never used to have a problem and I have no clue as to what is going on.

If you don't see these menu items in Word when selecting file > save as

Maybe try asking in the Microsoft Office Help Community
