How to Update to iOS 18 from Public Beta?

Today's release is 22A3354, the same as the final RC. In any case, if there is a later release than what someone already has on their iPhone, then it will be presented in Software Update. If no such release is presented, then the iPhone has the official release.

You don’t need to worry and do nothing, the public iOS18 beta you did the other week is classed as an iOS18 RC which is the proper full release to those people who haven’t had iOS18 public beta or developer beta before. So the release of iOS18 today that’s released around the globe is the exact same version that me, you and many other people have got from being with the public beta. To make it easier, we had the full proper release 1 week early. But for an heads up, go back to the iOS where you can update phone, instead of having on public beta or developer beta, turn it off. So if coming days / weeks for an iOS18 update that’s out to fix bugs and what not. At least you will have the normal public iOS and it’ll show up for you. By the way for a new iOS that’s just come out (not for beta) it’s known there will be an update soon. Apart from all that you don’t need to worry 😄. Sorry for the long explanation

as was already stated in this thread, the release candidate from the developer and public betas last week is the exact same build that was released commercially today, meaning your iPhone is already on the commercial version of iOS 18, you just received it a week early. hope this helps!

The last public beta was the same version as was released today. So you have the stable release.

No, you don't have to do a factory reset. Just go to Settings -> General -> Software Update. If you see an update to iOS 18 there, just install it. If you don't, then you're already on the release version. The last RC was the same as the one released today.

You're welcome. The reference to "factory reset" was probably in reference to those wishing to remove the iOS 18 beta and revert back to the release version of iOS 17, a question which came up often before today.

I know ios 18 just fully released but I accidentally updated to the public beta a week ago thinking it was the full version and now the actual stable release isnt showing. Im in the UK if thats needed however it may just need time. I just dont want to have to do a factory reset thats all.

I wish this were the case. Yes, the RC beta build and the final are the same number. However, just to name two features in iMessage 'Send Later'/Scheduler does not show up as an option even when tapping 'more'. iPhone mirroring with OS 15 Sequoia does not connect with the phone. These are just the two I've come across so far. Would appreciate some direction as to whether I should revert back to iOS 17 and then update to 18 and then do the same with the Mac, revert and then update to 15. Thank you!

UPDATE: Okay after searching I found that, and I quote "...To use iPhone Mirroring, you need a Mac that runs macOS Sequoia and that has an Apple silicon chip (M1 or later) or a T2 security chip." My Mac is Intel - does not have a chip.

Still trying to figure out why 'send later' doesn't show up on iphone.

Turns out it doesn’t work to update to the public beta. When I try to install the new stable version that was released I get an error message saying it couldn’t be installed. Certain apps now don’t open either. If anyone knows what to do help.

I’ve got the RC on my phone and it has mail in Settings. Do you have a list of the bugs that were fixed between the RC and the general release of 18.0? It would be good to see (genuinely interested by the way as I always thought the full release could be different from the RC)

Incorrect. The full iOS 18 has quite a few bug fixes. For instance RC does not have mail under settings, the app is simply missing.
