Persistent ventura wallpaper process causing MacBook to overheat and drain battery
Hello Apple Community,
I've been experiencing a recurring issue with my MacBook for about the last two months, specifically related to the Ventura wallpaper process. I've noticed that my MacBook becomes significantly slow and the fans start spinning loudly whenever this issue arises. A closer look at the Activity Monitor reveals that the Ventura wallpaper process is consuming an excessive amount of resources (please refer to the attached screenshot).
Force quitting the process temporarily resolves the issue, leading to a cooler and faster performing device. However, the process restarts automatically after some time.
This issue is particularly frustrating when I'm on the go, as my MacBook can drain the entire battery within half an hour if this process is running. I've tried setting a static image as my wallpaper, avoiding dynamic or video wallpapers, but the problem persists.
My MacBook's specifications are: 13-inch, 2020 M1 model with 8 GB RAM, 512GB SSD, currently running macOS Sonoma 14.2.1.
Has anyone experienced similar issues or does anyone have a solution? I don't use dynamic or video wallpapers and have already set a static image as my wallpaper, but the problem still hasn't been resolved. I'm reaching out for any help or suggestions, as this issue is becoming quite frustrating. I have seen this process using more than 20GB of memory. It comes back even after force quitting and restarting the device.
Thank you in advance for your assistance!
