PreOwned Iphone 15 pro not eligible for Applecare?

I recently bought a Pre-Owned Iphone 15 Pro from Bestbuy a couple months ago. I realized that my Applecare subscription was still towards my old phone so I cancelled it. When I tried to get a new subscription for my new phone, it says my phone is not eligible. I don’t understand why? How can I still get applecare to protect my new device?

You can't, AppleCare+ is only available within 60 days of purchase for new phones purchased from Apple or an Apple authorized reseller.

You can get AppleCare+ for Certified Refurbished phones that you buy directly from Apple. Those aren't new – but they have a one-year limited warranty, and you can "Get additional coverage with purchase of AppleCare."

Certified Refurbished Products - Apple

The OP's Pre-Owned iPhone from Best Buy wouldn't qualify.
