Is it possible to create S/MIME certificates in macOS Sequoia ?

I used to create email S/MIME certificates for private use with the Keychain Access app on my iMac. I installed those certificates on all macOS, iOS, and iPadOS devices of my family members to enable encrypted email exchange between family members. For such a private purpose, it is not necessary to obtain official certificates.

With the installation of macOS Sequoia the Keychain Access app was replaced with the Password app. As far as I can tell it is not possible to create S/MIME certificates in the Password app.

Is there a way in macOS Sequoia to create S/MIME certificates without the Keychain Access app?

iMac 27″, macOS 15.0

Indeed it is. I found it in the following folder:

/System/Library/CoreServices/Applications

I am glad it is. I do need to be able to create certificates.

An alternative to using the Keychain Access app to create certificates is to directly access the certificate tool.

The Certificate Assistant app is located in the following folder:

/System/Library/CoreServices
