When do Apple release RCS in iMessage?
iOS18 rolled out yesterday.
But it didn't include RCS.
I talked to Telia and Tele2.
The said it is up to Apple to upgrade their os.
Does anyone know if Apple will release RCS in Sweden?

Hi! I talked to a Tele2 tech support rep yesterday (17th of Sept 2024). She told me that they are working on the rollout and to check my phone during the week. Should be out for iOS by the end of the week. A reboot of the phone might be needed apparently. Hope she's right! :)

Apple has included RCS support in iOS 18, but it depends on carriers to enable it. As of now, Telia and Tele2 have not enabled RCS for iPhones in Sweden. It might take some time for them to roll out the necessary updates.
Now I have the answer.
To enable RCS, efforts are required from both Apple and the respective mobile operator.
So we have to wait for both our carrier and Apple to enable it in Sweden.
Or any country that doesn't have RCS today.
What!? This is BS. I talked to Apple and they said it’s available for Swedish operators.
When I talked to talked to Telia technical support, they said it’s unclear when and if RCS will be supported for iOS. When I mentioned that they already have RCS for Android, he agreed with me that it would be odd if Telia did not support RCS also for iOS.
I’ll call in a month or so to ask again and keep the pressure up. I suggest you do the same.

I did some digging about this. So it actually has nothing to do with Apple, once Apple pushed the iOS 18 update with the feature it is in the carriers hands to enable it. For example in the US we currently only have Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T running the program.

No, again, it is not up to Apple. It's completely in the hands of the carriers. Not all carriers support all devices and platforms, and those that do need to set up and push out an update to your device to enable RCS support. I received such an update from my carrier today, and before I received that update RCS wasn't active on my iPhone either.
Your carriers are wrong or behind the times. iOS 18 includes RCS support, which apparently they have not yet learned. Now it's completely up to those carriers to implement.

One carrier in Sweden said to me that they already support RCS, since it works on Android phones.
It is up to Apple to enable it in Sweden.
