How to get "Clean Up" feature for iPhone?

My understanding was that now in photos there is a new feature to remove objects from a photo and that it downloads automatically. It is called 'Clean Up'. I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max with ios18 - how can I get this function?

Hi Richard, I do not mean to be in any way disrespectful but I have been using computers since their inception for private use and in the graphic arts industry at the very start of all these programs and ideas. The notion that these phones so called older can not cope with a simple scrub and replace is just marketing nonsense, I should know I spent the best part of my career coming up with the spin. Also I was the seventh owner of a mobile phone in Australia so I am also very aware of the transition to smart devices and their capabilities. Any suggestion that a phone even back to iPhone 12 can’t cope with this feature is rubbish. Most sincerely, Steve

I own two Apple devices. One is the iPhone 14 Pro Max the other is the iPad Pro 5th generation.

I have had the clean up tool on the iPad for some time now. Why is it available on the iPad but not on my iPhone 14 Pro Max? The iPhone has more memory and more power than the iPad. So, saying that the iPhone is not powerful enough is crap.

I'm going to repeat this since many folks here don't seem to read the responses-- maybe twice will work better:

I found this at AppleInsider

It's worth pointing out, however, that Apple Intelligence will only be available on devices with the A17 Pro or M-series chips. This means that the Clean Up tool will be available exclusively to users with an iPad or MacBook equipped with an M1 or newer chip, or an iPhone 15 Pro.

Apparently this takes way more computing power than those of us with older iPhones can muster. There are apps at the App Store, but they don't look to be cheap.

I recently purchased an iPhone 16 pro max. It's updated to iOS 18. Why don't I have Clean up?

As has been said:

"Clean Up" is a feature of the Apple Intelligence update coming later this year. It s not yet available for any device.

It will only come to iPhone 15 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone 16 models when Apple Intelligence is released.

They advertise like it will be available to all and tell you up front the limitations.

Apple said it would be available as part of Apple Intelligence. And, yes, they've been very clear from the original announcement which phones would support Apple Intelligence.

I don't think I want to go down that road and rather wait for Apple Intelligence to be released for the iPhone in my country (Germany). Initially I tried to get Apple Intelligence early on my iPhone Pro 15 Max, but after changing the location to US, the language to English US and Siri to English US and restarting everything, I still could not download "Clean Up" to my iPhone. All that happened has been that I could no longer access my banking account and could no longer control my solar panels and the central heating. And the Photos.app started to index the Photos Library again and the search did not work for a long time. It would be too much extra work and highly inconvenient to pretend to live in a different country. Clean-up is already working well on my Mac with Sequoia with the language and region set to Germany.

No, you were not. Cleanup is not available on an iPhone 14 Pro Max at all.

Whatever you may have been using, was not Clean Up.

This is Clean Up:
