Mac OS 15 use extreme much RAM for Wallpaper SWAP

Hello,

i have seen today that my RAM Usage was 80%. I was think the Mac M1 16 GB was only 30 Min active. So what is here wrong. I have now found out that is has to do with

Macintosh HD > System > Library > ExtensionKit > Extensions > WallpaperImageExtension.appex > Entents > MacOS > WallpaperImageExtension

But in the Folder I see nothing. Nothing rising etc.

But it write and write etc.

I was think maybe there is a Hidden Folder inside or so. So I was pushing Comand / shift and the point (.) but nothing happends. Do that shortcut not work in macOS 15 Sequioa anymore?

Help me please.

Thank you.

iMac 24″, macOS 15.0

Why do you think that's a problem? Modern operating systems will allocate memory dynamically. Memory not used is memory wasted.

Look at Memory Pressure in the Activity Monitor to get an idea of how your Mac is performing. If it's in the green, it's fine. I'm currently using 15.32 out of 16 GB (95%). My memory pressure is green.

Making the image folder "com.apple.wallpaper.extension.image" read only seems to have fixed the issue for me (has only been a few hrs). Also deleted all the ".PNG " image files that were there even though they could not be viewed.

I see now the swap grow and shrink due to my usage whereas before it would grow every few seconds then kill the computer. Keep in mind when I started through ssh the parent folder "com.apple.wallpaper.caches" is not visible even through sudo so it's faster to do it local and go open custom folder and go from there to the path.

Thank you for the help.

Sorry but the Terms " Task manager exist from the Taskbar " are Terms for Microsoft Windows

As the Owner of this question has not mentioned Crashes

This issue you describe seems to be unique to your computer

Running 3 different machines all with macOS 15.0.1 Sequoia - can not say any of the machines exhibit such behaviours

The pressure was yellow and over 50%.

I have now deactivated all my personal photos as wallpaper. This is really bad from apple. Sorry.

Last year I remember there was a folder where from a normal photo size 4 MB for exampe the system was made a png file which 15-25 MB per photo. For what?

And two the same think again. But this time I cant change something. That is a bad joke. Really.

That's not a major issue, especially if it doesn't last long. Are you having any actual problems with your Mac? Is it running slowly? Are things crashing? Why are you monitoring the RAM usage? Unless your investigating an issue, there's not usually a reason to do that.

That has nothing to do with RAM usage.

No idea what you're trying to say there.

I believe you're missing the point of the conversation. When your mac starts crashing it's why you would load and start to leave open the process view and see the memory pressure it's literally why the tool exist and why it's placed in the Dock. It's why Task manager exist from the Taskbar. Maybe similar or not to the OP , on my end my computer crashes at random times sometimes after an hour other times I can go 2-3 hrs but it's guaranteed to crash once the swap reaches ~45GB. So keeping an eye on when it's going to happen is important.

Spending time to explain to someone about normal memory pressure or usage of a computer like they are nubes does not help with the actual concern / problem. When I am using my Vision pro I also have a permanent resource monitor open in a floating window somewhere. "Tech enthusiast are a thing".

The OP never mentioned crashing. Or, in fact, anything other then RAM usage. Perhaps they will provide additional information in response to my question. If and when they do, I will adjust my answers accordingly. Until then, I will answer based on the information actually provided by the OP, not surmises from a third party.
