Airdropping photos downloaded from WeChat

I'm having a hard time working with the photos that I have downloaded from WeChat. I'm not sure when exactly this started taking place but in the past I use to be able to download a photo form WeChat on my phone and transfer it to my computer via airdrop no problem. Now when I try to transfer it, I have to select the photo, go into options and turn on 'All photo data' before I can airdrop it. Then each image that gets transfered, comes through inside a folder. So if I want to transfer 5 photos, when I go through this process I have 5 folders transfered that I have to open each one individually and grab the photo out of. This works but is a pain and time consuming for transfering photos. Why is this happening and how can I not have to do this?
