Apple Intelligence in UK with US English

Apple said “Apple Intelligence first launches in U.S. English, and will quickly expand to include localized English in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the U.K. in December”.

does this mean if I change my phone language to US English I can use Apple Intelligence in UK? As Apple didn’t confirm that Apple Intelligence will only be available in US, they said US English which confused me.

It's nuanced, but I think the telling statement is:

"Apple Intelligence will initially be available in English (US) in most regions around the world'

Which states that you can use it (almost) anywhere, as long as you ask, and can understand, a US-centric response.

In the case of the UK, don't be surprised if it advises you to "put on your pants and go for a walk on the sidewalk". You'll have to do the English translation yourself. It will be December before Apple Intelligence knows to advise you to wear your trousers.

The issue is somewhat complicated since it isn't clear where the UK stands in relation to the EU directives, which Apple say will prevent them from launching Apple Intelligence in the EU. Presumably post-Brexit UK isn't included in that block? 🤷‍♂️
