Visual Lookup in Photos app not working after iOS 18 Update
The letter "I" with the circle around it is still there but doesn't identify anything.

Works for new taken photos when language is set to English (not in Dutch - if ‘i’ is clicked there will be a search light go over the photo but the icon doesn’t change to give more information) (change of Region doesn’t make it work). Google Photos without installed Google Search works with the lens icon for all photos. So Apple has to do something…
I have the same issue. Ever since I installed iOS 18, the Visual Lookup in Photos app does not work. I have tried going into Settings > Apps > Photos > Search > and turned on "Show Content in Search" and it did nothing.
I went on my iMac running 15.1.1 (24B2091), launched the Photos app, and guess what? The Visual Lookup works great. So I hope Apple can fix this with iOS 18.2 when it releases. Visual Lookup is far more useful on my iPhone.
Visual Look Up still works for me with iOS 18.
See especially the second sentence under item 1 here.
Use Visual Look Up to identify objects in your photos and videos on iPhone - Apple Support
See my solution and then don’t forget to restart
Sadly, already had show related content toggled on in both Siri &search and in the apps > photos > enhanced search , so doesn’t seem to be the ‘fix’ :(
type „search“ into the search bar

That's not true for me. A friend texted me a picture of her and her dog, and it identifies Boston Terrier. Another with her cat says Cat.
I have same issue on 15 promax iOS 18.01 in visual lookup option is not available. the i icon has no star on it. I made sure “show related content” is enabled in settings. i even disabled and reenabled and restarted phone but the visual lookup is not available for any of my photos; old and new; taken by camera or downloaded from web. any idea if this is software issue related to iOS 18.01 ?!
Same here. iPhone 13 Pro, English language and UK as zone, doesn’t show up at all, either in Photos (whether I took them or saved them) or in Safari.
“Show related content” was already turned on, toggled off and on anyway and restarted phone but still nothing.
How do I fix this?
I also updated to 18.1.1 and my photos will not tell me the plant name anymore. I already have the "Ensure Show Featured Content and Enhanced Visual Search" on. I restarted my phone, I turned the settings off and on again. There is NO information in the (i) area for nam. I have an iPhone 14. I also do NOT see the show related content.
Any other ideas??
Thank you,
I’ve done all of the suggestions, started and restarted with no resolution. I have an iPhone Xr. Is my model the problem I’ve lost this option? I did have this option until the update. Thanks for any suggestions.
Same here.
I have the newest, most expensive iPhone and the newest OS. I’ve ensured that settings->search->show related content is on.
Visual lookup doesn’t work on any photos, old or new. This needs to be addressed directly by Apple.
I had my first Apple computer in 80s.
Since Apple 2nd wind in 1996, Apple has been making good products.
However, I’m getting enjoyed by “upgrades and improvements”
Apple keeps “improving” just to say they are doing “innovation” and in the mean time they keeps breaking good features that people got used to and now can’t get it back, by either bug after upgrade or by design to replace it with something “new, better, or exciting”.
Visual Lookup was use so often by many and now it is broken for many and does’t work.
Another enjoying thing was keyboard language. Why did they introduced bilingual, it does not work properly in neither language. Now we have to delete and reinstall each language.
Apple, please stop satisfying Wall Street, and don’t “updates” just to make it look like an update.
They keep changing settings around, sick and tired of that.
Truly yours.
Life long Apple user…
It's always worked for me. Now there is no star in the identify button. I've tried it on plants and animals but no star shows up.
Also broken here since iOS18, have tried disabling and enabling but that hasn't worked.
This was working until I installed new update yesterday.!! Now no star on info button live in uk
