unable to install ios18 on new iPhone 12 mini

I have just bought a new iPhone 12 mini, and as part of the transfer of my data from my old iPhone SE 2022, it asked to update its software to ios 18. It connects via wifi, and has downloaded ios 18 but is continuing to install 17 hours later! I had previously tried installing it but my old phone cannot continue transferring data until the new phone has completed installation of ios 18. I am getting nowhere fast! I have a good speed on wifi here. something else about the new phone is worrying. I have been told the iphone 12 mini is Magsafe, but it is not charging on my Apple mag charger, only the Lightning one?!

Any ideas would be helpful, thank you x

By trial and error - the best way - I worked out that you cant update software and transfer data at the same time, although you dont get a warning message to inform you. I stopped the data transfer, reset the phone and began the update process again. This time it all went through in minutes...

I have an iPhone 12 mini – and run into that problem ("won't make a proper connection with the MagSafe puck') every now and then. Power-cycling the phone always clears the glitch.

Reply to myself as I cant edit my question, just to add that I have fixed the mag charging issue. I gave the phone a hard reset now it works on the mag charger.
