Why are calls failing after iOS 18 update?

I have an iPhone 14 Pro, and Apple Watch S8, after updating to ios18 both fail to connect on phone calls, they seem to initially connect and then drop. The receiving phone gets a missed call but nothing else

FOLLOW UP. For me, it seems to be related to the Wi-Fi Calling feature. I have AT&T. I only recently, as in last month or two, turned it on. Something i read triggered me to consider that it might be related to my problem. So, I turned every (probably overkill) setting having to do with Wi-Fi Calling off, and I haven’t had any more Call Failed! issues. Coincidence?

IOS version 18.3 on iPhone 16 Pro Max with Verizon carrier. Still experiencing the issue and I don't have the luxury of turning off calls over wi-fi due to poor cell coverage in my basement. When I get a text from someone saying, "Your phone isn't ringing again" or I try to call out and get "call failed", I have to restart the phone to temporarily fix the issue. It seems to reoccur every couple of days. PLEASE push a fix for this!

Yup same thing happened to me. My grandfather called me about a family emergency and he kept cutting in and out when I have all bars. I have iphone se 2022 bought it fall 2023. Its not really good when someone calls you about something serious like a family emergency. He literally called me JUST AS I UPDATED....maybe like 10 seconds after I logged in on the home screen where it says update complete. SO CRAZY. Good news is it did give me back all my storage in the iphone storage section. Now I just need them to fix the icloud backup storage bug.

i have an iPhone 13 mini. Some calls do not ring and are not recorded on the list of recent calls yet a vmail is left. Other calls don’t ring on my phone but will ring through my iPad if it happens to be open. Calls to the outside often fail. I too shut down my phone and restart though often this occurs multiple times per day. Wi-fi calling must be left on as ATT coverage is terrible if it is turned off despite the fact the nearest tower is a mile away. My husband has an iPhone 12 and is also encountering the call failures. We need a secure method of communicating so Apple must immediately elevate this IOS 18 issue. My phone is fully updated to the latest version.

I have an iphone 12. I updated to 18 and went straight to 18.3.1 and my phone has a ton of issues. I can receive calls and missed calls are logged ONLY if I am solely on cellular and have wireless turned off to my phone. As soon as I turn it on, I don't receive incoming calls at all. They don't appear as missed calls either. There is NO log of them and I have family emergencies happening right now. This is a nightmare. The most basic function of a cell phone and it to make and receive calls and yet apple can't get it sorted.
