I don’t understand that move Favorites to the middle of nowhere in Photos App. I use it every time when I open App. Now I need to scroll and find it. How bad was that decision by Apple Developers’ Team?

Wow. Like Photos update? You seem to be in the minority.

While Lawrence may be a minority who likes it in this thread (I also like it), that tells us nothing about what percentage of people who own iPhones think. People who dislike something are far, far more likely to post publicly about it than people who do like it or who don't really care all that much. I suspect that the latter is the majority.

I have avoided updating because of all the concerns I have seen online. YouTube, etc.

Believing what you see on YouTube is a sure way to get a lot of bad information and lose a lot of sleep.

I have over 300 albums and don't want to lose them.

I didn't lose any albums. They are all still in the app. Yes, the layout is different and there are some different features. But nothing got removed. I think there may be people who, without realizing what they were doing, unticked "Albums" in "Customize & Reorder." And I can see why that might be a bit scary.

Have read that all photos are scrambled and not able to sort.

My library is still sorted the way it was before.

The people who do seem to have issues are the folks who sync all of their photos to their computer by cable, do sorting and organization and then move them back. But honestly, that's always had its issues, notably that you couldn't delete those albums. If you are someone who manages their photos that way, upgrading may not be the way to go. Unfortunately, I suspect people who do that are now in the minority and Apple is not interested in supporting that anymore.

Have spoken with Apple Help and they do admit that there are issues with this new Photos set up.

Yes, it's different and there's a learning curve. Until you've played with it a bit, it can seem like it doesn't work, rather than works differently.

I like what I have had for years. Normally am keen to update for new features but not this time. Can get no reassurance from anyone that my albums will still be there after the update.

Lots of people would prefer that certain favorite apps never change. I get it. But I'm sure we all know that's not the way the world works.

And again, my albums are all still there.

I still haven’t found someone (including a chat with Apple) who can explain to me if my current folders and albums transfer over into IOS 18. I have read a fair bit about IOS 18 Photos and understand the way you can customize but no one has assured me that my over 300 albums which contain mostly my photos, both from iPhones and SLR old camera but also screen captures, scanned photos and those gained from

others. I have not updated because I don’t want to lose my folders and albums the way they are currently organized. Was hoping an IOS 18 update might deal with the folder and album issue but so far nothing. I don’t like to avoid updates for too long as that means that I am missing security updates. I have an iPhone 15 Pro.

I told you that they should (and did for me) back on November 13 in this very thread. It doesn't appear that you ever responded to me or asked more questions. This is also the experience of everyone I've discussed it with.

Could you be the one in a million who has a problem? I suppose. That's about the same as the odds of being struck by lightning but we still go outside.

Thank you for your messages. Both are reassuring. Not sure why I am so paranoid as over many years have never had any issue with Apple products. After reading the earlier reviews where there were many negative comments it scared me off of updating. And a good point is that the many thousands that had no issues are not likely to post any comments!

and….some users are not adept at using the technology so maybe were not following directions to begin with.
