I don’t understand that move Favorites to the middle of nowhere in Photos App. I use it every time when I open App. Now I need to scroll and find it. How bad was that decision by Apple Developers’ Team?

To the person that responded to my last message be for real you think I don’t know that you didn’t make the update stop it. I was just saying in general please bring back the old version

Telling people here that you think Apple should bring back the old version, beyond whatever catharsis it affords you, is pointless. Apple doesn't read here for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts using the feedback link provided. May Athena watch over you and give you wisdom.

This is the worst update I've ever seen . I like simple clean lines and the new photos app is seriously giving me anxiety . Why change something that worked perfectly before . This is a crowded ugly mess. I don't want my entire library to pop up when I open photos . I liked my

clean little square boxes . Terrible terrible idea . And favorites is the album I share the most. Tell me how is having to search for it everytime is helping .

Im moving to Android if this isnt fixed soon!

Great idea! I'm sure that an Android phone will be absolutely perfect, and you will never have any complaints with how its features are implemented! As this is a user-to-user forum, no one here cares how you throw your money around.

But it might be more effective to learn how to use the new Photos app, as hundreds of people who have posted in the thread you just added to have done.

There are many ways to put Favorites exactly where you want it using the Customize features in the new app. And here’s the best news: You can access Favorites from the HOME screen directly; hold your finger on the Photos icon and select Favorites from the floating menu that appears.

That is exactly why I am avoiding the upgrade. I don't want to have to re-index and move over 300 albums. My wife's update didn't change her albums at all but she only had the 6 that I previously mentioned.

On a positive note, I have been coaching several friends as to how to use the new photos app since none had paid attention to the fact that they had updated to IOS 18 automatically until they looked closer and usually after I asked if they had! HA HA. Since I have watched several tutorials on how to use the new app I am comfortable sharing instructions with others. I use my wife's phone as a model. But my phone still remains in the "past".

Well, you can avoid the upgrade as long as you don’t mind leaving your iPhone vulnerable to any new malware that is blocked by the update and future updates.

Why are developers making things so much harder to do the things we do often? Apple, Strava etc one click is now 4 clicks it’s as if they want us to be on the devices constantly! So frustrating.

Well, if you are the 1% of users who actually read release notes you would know that it is now EASIER to view Favorites in iOS 18. Just hold your finger on the Photos icon and choose “Favorites” from the menu.

You can also use the new, powerful customization feature of the iOS 18 Photos app to put Favorites (and other folders) wherever you want them to be.

I am not sure why the answer for iOS 18 is having to make settings changes to resemble and function like the previous iOS 17. Does no one see the irony?

No, I don’t see any irony at all. In the previous version everything was pretty much fixed where Apple thought it should be. In the iOS 18 version you can move objects around and put them where you want them to be. And the fact that you can customize is somehow a negative? Give me a break!

Apple won’t let me post anything that criticizes their products so I doubt this will even be able to be seen.

That is absolutely hilarious! You clearly haven’t read the 13 pages of this thread that are FULL of posts criticizing Apple’s decisions with respect to the Photos app, or the posts praising the changes.

Thank you!! I managed to find favorites after the second to last update (which I hated but got used to) but hadn’t been able to locate it after the most recent one until I saw your comment. You’re a life saver.

And for Apple - as with others here, I really hate the latest update. So much harder to find what I need and more clicking around to get there..ggrr

Or hold your finger on the Photos icon on the Home screen and chose Favorites from the floating menu that appears.
