Where are the new iOS 18 emojis?

I was given the option to update to 17.3 I believe it was? The update before iOS 18. Well I just skipped that and installed iOS 18. I seem to have everything except the new emojis. I’ve tried deleting my “emoji” keyboard twice and I restarted my phone. Am I missing something?

I have the IPhone 14 Pro Max.

The thing you did wrong was take anything on Fox News as fact.

What you saw is that the Unicode Consortium has just approved 8 new emojis on September 10th. They approve the specifications for the emojis and those are in version 16 of the emoji package. Each manufacturer then creates those emojis from the specifications provided by the Unicode Consortium and with all previous versions of the emoji packages, you will see them on your iPhone in an update when they have been completed.

The update before iOS 18 was 17.6.1. At the same time that iOS 18 was released, they also released 17.7 for people who weren't ready to move to iOS 18.

What new emojis were you expecting? I don't see anything about them in the announcements.

Do you mean Genmoji? If so, those will be part of Apple Intelligence which hasn't been released yet. Also, it won't be available on your phone.

I was curious about the emojis too. I also skipped the 17.7 and just did the 18.0 update. I was sent a text from my daughter who did the 17.7 and had new emojis(✿❤︎❀❁✩★☆✮)that I do not have.

None of those emojis have been included in any emoji update at least by going back for the last 10 years. You can view the emojis that come out each year at this link. It is a long list, but the most recent ones are on top. The ones that were approved this year will come to your device sometime later in a point update of iOS, but none of those are the ones that you have listed. You can send images in a Message that are not an emoji, which may be what they are.
