background sounds keep shutting off randomly while in use

After updating to Sequoia, background sounds on my MacBook Air 2024 keep shutting off randomly. It's not happening when another system sound plays, I have deactivated the toggle for "shut off when asleep or locked" and there's nothing else connected to my headphones. This was not happening in MacOS 14.

If you have the time, pls contact apple support on the phone to try troubleshooting the problem. I just got off the phone with a tech and they're working on elevating this issue, will need more cases to confirm. I couldn't do a full OS reinstall due to some school software I have that may lock me out of exams, but if you can back up your OS with time machine and call to work through the troubleshooting it'd help speed up a potential fix. It sounds like it's an issue with Sequoia, which anyone with this problem has probably already assumed.

I'm able to get the issue to happen when clicking around Settings, when opening up MSFT Outlook and clicking "New message" occasionally. Nothing else is consistent to repro the issue except settings.

Good luck! Here's to hoping Apple can figure out a fix sooner than later.
