Thanks for the note. But mine, official 15.0.1, still definitely have the screen flickering issue (on a dark grey solid color background).
Are you sure this is the same issue? In my experience, this is purely a cosmetic problem. The background is flickering; however, nothing is happening with open apps, including Finder, in any negative way.
Losing external monitors for a few seconds and experiencing screen blips during zoom meetings seems more like a hardware issue to me. Can you try using a different port on your MacBook (like USB-C or Thunderbolt), or test a different monitor using HDMI (even a TV)?
P.S. I have a feeling that a few days after the 15.0.1 upgrade, things improved significantly with the background flickering. It's interesting because I remember it flickering right after the upgrade, which left me a bit disappointed.

Consider letting Apple know about it:

I also completed the feedback form and opened a ticket. I'd encourage others to do the same. No solution provided, but at least we're making folks aware.
I had same problem since updating to Sequoia yesterday. I called apple support. What seems to have fixed the problem (at least for now):
Start up your computer in Safe Mode. If you do not have the flickering while in Safe Mode, it is a software problem. That is what they told me. If that is the case the next step is to reinstall Sequoia. See the link with the steps for starting up in Safe Mode and for reinstalling Sequoia. They told me I had to do the safe mode thing FIRST. The first time I called, the person asked me to re-install, but did not ask me to start up in safe mode. That did not work. I called again and the other person told me I had to start in safe mode first, and then reinstall. It has been about two hours that I have done these two steps and so far no flickering or flashing or sliding the screen from right to left.
I also have the same issue.
The issue seems to be gone in Sequoia next iterations. B*E*T*A versions. Works for me on Macbook Pro M1 (2020) 16GB RAM
Excellent (smells like a bug) ... Looking forward the update that hopefully will fix it and is arriving in few days/weeks.
Thanks
Mi flickering is definitively gone with 15.1 P*u*b*l*i*c B*e*t*a 2
Sorry for asterisks, Apple removes references to testing software in this forum.
Strange.
I can confirm that with 15.0.1 is disappeared, maybe only for me.
weird.
Me too, same flashing desktop issue. I'm running a MacStudio M1. It started with the OS15 update and is on my MacBook Air as well. I'm not running the Mendeley web importer extension.
I just updated to 15.0.1 and still have that issue.
I don't have the Mendeley web importer extension, so it must be something else (at least on my device).
I am running 15.0.1 and still get the screen blink every few minutes..
It's not a purely cosmetic issue. The flicker interrupts certain native processes. For instance, if I have Background Sounds playing, they stop and need to be relaunched whenever there's a flicker.
Still happening on mine M1 air on 15.0.1.
me too, 15.0.1, MBP M2, can't believe this level of bug can still exist after so many beta tests...
flick 3-4 times every 2-3 minutes
