How to sim unlock iPhone 12

My iPhone has been off of AT&T for a month and then I try to get onto Mint Mobile. But when I put the Mint SIM in my iPhone, it reads “SIM not supported”. I bought my iPhone unlocked from Backmarket a year ago. I never had a SIM PIN on my phone

I take it that the phone was locked to AT&T, since there would be no need to even talk to AT&T if the phone was unlocked.

Not sure if you were aware that Mint is a subsidiary of AT&T.

Tap Settings > General > About

Scroll down to Carrier Lock

Does it say SIM Locked....or....does it say No SIM Restrictions?

If it says SIM Locked, you might have purchased an unlocked phone, but it is locked now to AT&T. Contact AT&T, but they may not be willing to help at this point based on the information that you have provided.

In other words, AT&T will not unlock the phone unless you are an AT&T customer.

If it says, No SIM Restrictions.....your next contact is to Mint Mobile for another try with a different SIM card. Things are up to Mint Mobile at this point.

Bottom line......Apple is not involved with your issue in any way.

You are at the mercy of AT&T to unlock the phone. It is apparent that the phone is currently locked to AT&T and nobody else will be able to unlock it. As has been said before, if you are not a current customer of AT&T it may be very difficult or impossible to force them to unlock it.

You can file a complaint with the FCC if you wish:
