Latest Sonoma update could not be personalized?

Hello

I tried to update the MacOS Sonoma from 14.6.1 to 14.7 using the standard system preferences. The process got interrupted after a few seconds with the following error:

The software update could not be personalized. Please try again.

An error occurred while loading the selected updates. Check your internet connection and try again.

(or something in that sense, my system runs in German).

The first attempt was when I was logged in as a normal user.

So I logged in as admin and tried again – same error.

Then I dowloaded the combo update (about 13gb) from the App store and tried again, still no luck.

Finally, I booted in recovery mode and tried to install MacOS from there – and STILL same error.

Now I'm out of ideas. I don't even know what "personalized" means.

Has anyone had the same issue and found a solution?

I believe the "Personalization" has something to do with the new concept of "Ownership" with the M-series Macs. See my other post here where I provide some links and information:

Two users in that thread just confirmed that performing a DFU firmware Revive resolve their "personalization" error problem. I would make sure you to have a good backup first just to be safe. I really hope you have been keeping frequent & regular backups anyway since there are a lot new ways of permanently losing access to the data on the internal SSD of recent Macs due to all the hardware, software, and security changes.

Now that's an unexpected turn...

The error message says "check your internet connection" – but I did not think that this would actually matter. However, as a last attempt, I switched off Wifi and connected my Mac with an ethernet cable – and that did the trick... The download wend through, and the update was installed after all...
