SmartCard Readers disconnections

Hi,

I'm using a medical software on macOS and i have a serious problem with my smartcard reader (PC/SC technology, not SD card reader).

My SC reader is constantly disconnecting all day long and it's very annoying.

The only solution to get it work again is to unplug/replug the reader so the Mac sees it again !

I checked with many other users (not only from my software) and 90%+ using a medical software on a Mac (especially M1,M2 or M3) has the exact same problem...

I tried everything :

• 5 differents Mac from Catalina to Sequoia
• selfpowered usb hub from many brands
• disable all existing sleep mode
• tried differents SmartCard Readers from multiple brands
• even tried a script which do a request every 5sec on my SC Reader to avoid it from being in sleep mode

I really don't know what to do more than that. Cleary, macOS has a serious problem with handling SC Readers and it getting worse each year so what is the solution ? Do we all have to work on Windows ???
