Searching issue in photos in iOS 18

Hi there, I have iPhone SE 2nd generation I am using it around a year and recently update the software to iOS 18. Then I have several issues in the iOS 18.

  1. Whenever I open Safari and sometimes spotlight search my keyboard starts lagging, I facing this since one of the update of iOS 17 and still continues in iOS 18
  2. After updating to iOS 18, photos app takes much time to index my photos and videos after few hours it complete the indexing. But now I discover that I can’t search the “Art” in the photos app, if I try to search “Art” then when I press the “T” then suddenly application stops and quits quickly. I try this same after force restart but the issue is still exist. I can successfully search other types of photos like person, event, location but I can’t search “Art”.
  3. Also now I am writing this issues and still my keyboard is lagging very much. Other functions are working normally. Yeah, I notice the battery is draining faster than iOS 17 but I consider this as normal issue after an update

please answer to my issues

Thank You.

You're looking at Settings>General>About>Capacity, right? My 12 Pro is also about 4 years old, and it shows the 128 GB that I bought it with, with 52 GB available. Nothing with a GB after it looks remotely like 3.

Even if you have an actual capacity of 64 GB, and 3 GB available, that's too little not so see some restrictions in operation. If that's the case, then you should try reducing the storage. The easiest thing is probably to delete apps that you don't need. You can get them back later. Then, if you have space to move around in, you can look for other options.

Unfortunately iPhone SE 2nd generation has only 3 GB RAM (according to Google and ChatGPT)

I check the searching in photos when Wi-Fi and cell data is turned off and both times issue rises even with the aeroplane mode is on the issue rises

here is notable thing that the issue only comes when I search the “Art” not with any other searches

And as you ask, background app refresh is on for cellular and Wi-Fi both and I had even not turned on the low power mode so everything is working as they could work.

So sorry your phone is not an Art lover-- missing a lot! If I do a search for "Art" I get 2600 results, mostly garbage, like old scrapbook pages that I had scanned. If I try "Painting" I get 270 pictures, mostly people standing in front of background wall hangings in their living rooms.. If I do Manet I get "A Bar at the Folies-Bergère," but that's in the caption, so I don't know that the iPhone knows its Impressionists from its cubists.

From Apple:

Smallest is 64 GB.

There may be something seriously wrong with your phone?

Hi Richard,

RAM and Storage is two different things. RAM is for the apps to store data that is only needed during runtime. It’s getting freed after the app closed or on reboot. The storage is permanent and it’s used for storing photos for example. Your iPhone 12 has 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. I don’t think you can find RAM in the settings but you can find it on google
