I just updated my iMac M1 to run Sequoia and now my USB flash drives are not recognized. My external hard drives are recognized as are my external SSD's. I have seen online that I am not the only one with this issue, but nowhere have I found a fix. Is this something that can be fixed or do I have to wait for a update?

Solved:
I (unfortunately) updated 2 Airs and a Pro to Sequoia and had trouble with them recognizing all external hard drives and flash drives after the update. Luckily I saw a security (hand icon) window flash quickly on one of them as I was plugging a drive in. So I thought it might be a security issue, scrolled down in Settings->Privacy and Security -> Accessories. Setting the option to "Always Allow" makes it work. Setting it to Always Ask does not seem to work since the window just quickly flashes by, not allowing you to confirm access. Enjoy!

If an Intel Mac have you done a Pram Reset, or tried a Safe Boot?
Is this new drive or was it showing up before?
MacBook Air M2-Sequoia will not recognise any external device including Fujifilm X-T5 SD card but does
allow tethering.
All these devices continue to work normally on two retired MacBooks with older operating systems.
They do not show up in Disc Utility. The only things showing up in Disc Utility is 2 External Hard drives being used for Time Machine. The flash drive also does not show up in Finder . This is only a problem since the update to Sequoia.

SD cards appear in Disc Utility but are greyed out.
They will not mount.
They do not appear on the desktop or in Finder.
External Time Machine functions normally.
Fujifilm X-T5 camera connects normally when tethering
but will not connect to Fujifilm X-Raw studio.
Hopefully, Apple will get a move on with a revision.

Recognizing and mounting are two different things. If it doesn't recognize it, it certainly won't mount.
I would reformat the drive.
Just to add to the confusion, running MacOS 15.1 on an M1 Mac Studio, after the last update, it won't mount SD cards from any of my Fuji cameras, but it will mount SD cards from my Leica. The same thing happens with my M1 Mac mini running the same MacOS. The cards are visible in Disk Utility, but they won't mount.
Same for me - none of the settings mentioned in the above posts results in FAT32 USB flash drives appearing on the desktop or finder.
This is more than an inconvenience for me - I have a 3D printer farm that only works with FAT32 USB Flash Drives.
I have updated to 15.01. Still no joy. So frustrating! Hasn't made any difference, except for making my MacBook more unstable and slow, with that dreaded spinning wheel when opening applications. What's up with Apple? Do they even know and care what's going on? Again, I have to reiterate that my biggest mistake was "updating" to Sequoia!!
In my case, the non-recognizing of USB drives occurs irrespective of whether the drives are plugged directly in the USB ports on my MacBook Pro with Sequoia OS, or indirectly through a USB hub, like the CalDigit docking station or USB hub.
None of this ever happened with Sonoma OS!!
It is absolutely ridiculous that Apple has not fixed this as yet with an update. How am I to work like this?!
having issues with external SSD's not mounting or visible . Also SD card not showing up or mounting on reader on my new Mac Studio M2 Ultra. New this week, all worked well on Sonoma, until I upgraded... Not impressed.
I considered rollback to Sonoma using Time Machine. But when I called up Time Machine the only backups visible were ones made AFTER the installation of Sequoia. Have no clue how to sort that out, but Sequoia is not ready for prime time.
Hi. You wrote "Allow accessories to connect,". I am on 15.0.1 and cannot find this option in Privacy & Security. Apple documents say it's there, but I don't see it. Where did you find it?
