My Focusrite USB-C audio interface stops working when I reboot my 2018 Mini

I have a Focusrite USB-C audio interface connected to a Mini which has been the case for several years. I use it both for recording and handling audio output from the Mini. Yesterday, I upgraded the macOS from Sonoma to Sequoia and discovered that the Focusrite was no longer automatically recognized by the Mini; instead I have to unplug then re-plug the USB-C cable into the Focusrite. This seems like a bug to me. Anyone else seeing the same?

Mac mini, macOS 15.0

Same here. Mac mini 2018, Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. Used the interface without problems since purchase for more than a year but since upgrade to macOS Sequoia a few months back the interface isn't detected after reboot or start from cold. No upgrade of macOS helped so far, as of end of December 2024.

at least the interface works after replugging the usb c to usb a cable into the Mac.

I didn't find any updated drivers on Focusrite's page, anyone care to link? I do have the understanding that 2i2 doesn't even need any special drivers for macOS. I never installed any in the first place, as the interface worked out of the box up until previous major version of macOS.

Maybe I should just try using a usb c to usb c, or add some usb hub in between ? I could try another Mac as well, now that I think of it...

Same thing with my Mini M2 pro ( in the meantime on Sequoia 15.3) / Focusrite 18i20 3rd gen / Focusrite control SW 3.20.0.220. During boot up of the MAC, Scarlett not recognized as Audio device. Deinstalled & Installed Focusrite SW but issue not fixed. I have to switch off and on the Scarlett after the MAC is up. Only then recognized by Mac and functioning normal.

I recently updated the Focusrite Control Software to version 3.20.0 (available here), but still no luck ... the Focusrite support article mentioned several times claims the device is fully compatible with Mac OS Sequoia, but this is obviously not correct!

I still have to switch-off/on my Clarrett USB 2Pre in order to make it work!

Let's hope they fix this any time soon!

So, everything's in place on startup? Thanks for the info--I'll pass it along to whoever is working on my ticket at Focusrite; I'll send it to Apple, too. FYI, I did go through troubleshooting steps with Apple involving unplugging from a hub and then directly into the Mac Mini. No go. Interesting that you've got yours plugged directly into the screen monitor? Btw, Apple told me they send out upgrades to third-party vendors/suppliers months in advance of release so vendors can work out their bugs. So, curious-er and curious-er. Also (to others): I've taken to unplugging the Scarlett as part of the shut-down routine to avoid the hassle of the not remembering and then having to do all the workaround steps after startup.

I'm on a 2012 27" iMac running Monterey and I'm also getting this issue with my Scarlett 2!2 2nd Gen. This has only really happened in the last few months to be fair, but I've always had to 'unplug and plug' the USB lead to get the iMac to see the Scarlett at various points in time. But now even that doesn't works and I have to do a restart. I've tried all the various updates etc too. Very annoying.
